The Odd Gastronomic Film

Here are a few gastronomic oddities worth watching. Not classic foodie movies, but still worth the effort.

Only Lovers Left Alive

A very classy 2013 Vampire movie written and directed by Jim Jarmusch (Broken Flowers, Dead Man) with Tilda Swinton, Tom Hiddleston and John Hurt. The world it seems is scattered with vampires still living from bygone ages with talents in music, english literature and simply being cool. The movie is laced with scenes of exquisite gastronomic pleasure - type O negative.

The Discrete Charm of the Bourgeoisie

A 1972 surrealist film from the Spanish director Luis Buñuel (Portolés) (1900-1983). The plot revolves around a group of bourgeoise acquantances attempting to dine together - attempting, but invariably foiled by some bizarre circumstance and then, only to find it may have been a dream after all etc etc. Won a 1972 Oscar for the Best Foreign Film.
